The Parks Apparel – “Drinking Wine & Hiking Pines” Women’s Muscle Tank

Animals
Environment

The “drinking wine & hiking pines” white tank from The Park Apparel is one of their fun, fashionable pieces that feels good on, and feels good purchasing. That’s because every purchase from The Parks Apparel protects 100 square yards of land for endangered wildlife. Their current focus is on the Cerro Amay cloud forest in Guatemala by working to acquire and protect over 50,000 acres of the remaining forest through their partnership with Global Wildlife Conservation.

As one of the few pristine cloud forests remaining in the world, the Cerro Amay in Guatemala is of the highest immediate conservation priority. Although cloud forests occur globally on tropical mountains, they are very rare, comprising less than two percent of all forests, and many of them continue to be destroyed. Where cloud forests survive, not only do they provide shelter for thousands of endemic tropical species, but they serve as cauldrons of discovery as scientists continue to discover new montane species previously unknown to science.

Poverty

Bitty & Beau’s is a Coffee Shop run by employees with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We stopped by on a recent visit to Charleston, SC and it is a great coffee shop, run by terrific people, with some good coffee.

Amy Wright is the proud mom of four children – the two youngest, Bitty & Beau, having Down syndrome – which makes them feel like the luckiest people on the planet. As advocates for the value, inclusion and acceptance of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), the Wrights have dedicated their lives to making the world a better place for their children and others living with IDD. That’s why they created Bitty & Beaus.

With over 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) unemployed nationwide, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee created a path for people with IDD to become more valued, accepted and included in every community.  With 3 locations, in Wilmington, NC, Charleston, SC and Savannah, GA, Bitty & Beau’s Coffee currently employs 60 people with IDD and has been featured on The Today Show, Rachael Ray, CNN, Harry, Good Morning America, Dr. Oz, HLN, People Magazine and Southern Living Magazine. Founder, Amy Wright, was named 2017 CNN Hero of the Year.
